Jack and the Beanstalk & Covid-19 Media

Hello, today in our google meet session Phil joined and we were shown a poster about Covid-19 testing and we were told to explain where you could find this type of media. We came up with a few different ideas like TV adverts, Billboards, Youtube adverts, Radio/Podcasts, Posters, etc. We all disccused about the purpose of the this form of propaganda and who we think designed and made this media for the general public. I stated that it maybe the Health Department who designed the Covid-19 testing media to spread the message to as many people across the country as possible so they would recieve the message. This form of media not only pursuades the public to get tested if they show symptoms of Coronavirus but also to educate them.

Jack and the Beanstalk

After we had a brainstorm and had our discussion based on Covid-19 Media we moved onto the Book Jack and the Beanstalk. We read the book (if you don't know about the story here Jack and the Beanstalk ) moving on we were given a group of questions like, why did the author portray the Giant as angry and grumpy. Was there a reason the Giant had a bad relationship with humans? well that's for you to find out yourself!

Alternative ending ( 100 WORDS CHALLENGE!! )

The Poor substandard Jack conqured his way up the Magical Beanstalk collecting gold coins to provide comfort and stable shelter for his frail old mother. Jack  procceded to grab what he needed, Jack was a kind and thoughtful little boy. He took what he needed and left the rest as his faith in humanity. He used to gold coins to help out his mother and those before him. Once he grew older he lived a peaceful and happy old life with his wife and 3 kids on their mothers farm. Jack grew up a hero giving back to the community.

Media Consumption Per Week

Hello today we filled out a form regarding Media Consumption, we use media everywhere we go and sometimes we don't realise we are consuming quite a lot. We filled out a form that was given to us which had questions like "How much time do you spend watching netflix weekly" it had answers like less than an hour, 2-5 hours, more than 5 hours etc. We then had a look at the form results and were suprised by some of them and it makes you realise how much time people actually consume media.

Have a look at the results from some of the questions and comment what you think about it and if you can relate to the majority of some of the results.

It appears people perfer digital and online media for reasons like easier to access. But when you really look at some of them you start to think about how much time you are spending and feeding on all the media. (The last graph "signs" is referring to adverts and billboards)

I hope you found the data interesting to see and I will post more soon! stay safe and hope you have a good first week of school.
