Samoan Language Week 2020

Hi My Name is John and I go to Wesley Intermediate School. This week we learnt about Samoan culture, I will show and tell you some stuff that we made and learnt.

Firstly we made a video for the song "Savalivali means go for a walk" we made this in our class houses and we recorded us singing it after us practising the lyrics. Some of us used the guitar and ukuleles. I will show you the video that we made.

Secondly we learnt some words in Samoan. We had some kids at our school who could speak Samoan and we had to remember what they said.

Lastly we watched some Samoan dances and tried to copy it and see if it was close enough.

Bye :)

The Video On Safe Sharing

Hello My Name Is John and I go to Wesley Intermediate School today me and Kevin made a video on Sharing information securely and safely. I will first off explain what cybersmart is.

Cybersmart is on once a week and we learn how to keep information secure and how to share and learn more online. We learn then we create about what we are told to do and finally we blog and share it with others on what we did.

Today me and Kevin made a video on what information we can share. For example would you share your phone number - answer is No. Would you share your First Name- answer is Yes. So we made a 40 second advert on teaching people what is the right things that they can share online. The worst things you could share online is information that can be tracked. Like your emails unless you trust them. Or maybe your full name and address because they can be tracked from google maps and name tracker.

We used a website called Kapwing which is a video editor and maker that is for free you just sign up with google. You add slides and texts, fonts you name it. You can share your Kapwing with buddies if you want to work with them in a collaboration group. After you are happy with your final result you can publish it and wait for all of the stuff to download and process it may take up to 5 minutes depending how long your video is. Now when it is finished you can download it and share it to others and enjoy it

Thanks for listening Bye :)

Story Of My LockDown

Hi my name is John and I am a student from Wesley Intermediate School and I am going to tell you my Lockdown story.

Week 1

During the first stages of the lockdown were pretty scary I was panicked of what was going to happen and i was scared about what might happen when the cases rise. I was aware that the cases doubled because I watched the 1 news special at 1:00 PM. The Cases went from 40 to 65 etc, I tried to find a new hobby that I could do during the lockdown and I thought that maybe baking was a good option because we couldn't do an activity outside. All we needed to do was have a recipe and go to the supermarket or dairy for the items that we don't have. Also we have been finding new recipes for cooking dinners to eat. I was sad not being able to see my friends and i was worried if they were alright at the time. At Night when there wasn't anything to do I would watch Netflix and YouTube to pass the time. it was Boring a lot of the time. I didn't Know what else to do because there wasn't anything that we could do in lockdown. So I just played with my cat and watch some TV.

Week 2

Into the second week of the lockdown it was harder it was stressful and I was getting sick of it. We tried to walk outside as much as we could but we live next to a alleyway that leads into a reserve in the back. So a lot of people walk down there and we couldn't walk with like 30 other people becuase it would be hard to social distance. In the mornings I do some Schoolwork so I can still learn while Im at home. At Night time it was hard to go to sleep because a lot of people walk down the alleyway, and we have a security light that shines when people walk near the sensor. The sensor can reach quite far. I was kinda enjoyed spending time with my Grandma, It was nice to see her more but it was annoying just a 12 year old staying with a 70 year old lady for 4 whole weeks. I got some plant seeds and we planted some plants and saw if they grew Im still waiting to see if they grow.

Week 3

Breaking down into the third week of lockdown we were feeling better because the lockdown was almost over. I was playing video games in my room and we called friends to see how they were. We ordered Uber eats sometimes to save cooking even tho we had to pay quite a lot of money for it, I thought it was worth it. We went on long walks when people weren't down in the reserve which was at 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 9:00, PM. We liked to watch the new series on TV "One Lane Bridge" That was a good series. There wasn't much else that happened during Week 3.

Week 4

At last it is week 4 and I can't wait to leave the lockdown. We went to the supermarket to buy some food and ingredients for stuff. Since I was with my Grandma we could skip the line. We got back Home and we watched the 1 news special. I thought of making a brownie in the microwave and I found the best brownie recipe ever it tasted so nice. You just add the mixture in a mug. We Made Tacos, Burgers, and etc. All of New Zealand were looking forward to getting out of their houses. Finally it was the last day of lockdown.

Thank you for reading this I hope you liked it Thanks bye :)
